FEBRUARY: The Eastern

Often referred to as New Zealand’s hardest working band, The Eastern have made it a point of pride, as well as a way of life, to pack up their banjo, fiddle, and six string to hit the road. They’ve played everywhere from Timaru to Nashville to Sydney and beyond. They treat every show as the best one yet.
Coming from earthquake damaged Lyttelton, The Eastern offer hope, heart and honesty with an authenticity that raises the spirits.

Haggis Sandwich

May: Haggis Sandwich

Drawing on Scottish history and the Scottish diaspora to Canada, Australia and New Zealand, Steve McDonald’s Celtic-flavoured music inspires floods of patriotic nostalgia. Andrew London’s wry, satirical songs have been the mainstay of popular trio Hot Club Sandwich for over 20 years, sending up our cultural obsessions and taboos with self-deprecating humour that makes it impossible to take offence.
